Great for playing with a Family

I think you have done a great job with this system, this has been put together very well.

I started playing D&D 4e with my 7 year old Son at a Local gamming store about two months ago and we both loved it. I started using this site to teach my Wife how to play so she could get involved in this as well. We both found the system so easy to use we have decided to play this with our whole family together. It would be much better for us because it allows us to go at a pace that our kids can understand more easily then allowed at our local gamming store.

I just have a few small questions that will make this much easier for me to do.
Would it be possible to get a list of monsters in each quest? This will make it easier for me to create initiative cards for these as well as monster tokens.

Also as we are going to play with 4 PC’s. I would like to know the best way to scale up the encounters. I expect that just doubling the number of creatures found in encounters would be fine.

Thanks again for the great work.

Hi Skipp4,

Good to hear you like the site!

Doubling the monsters will work ok. I would suggest using minions as well, particular if one of the party members has an area attack. You could even replace some of the 'mock up' bosses i have added for real solo/elite monsters for the MM. View the table on page 57 of the DMG 'Target Encounter XP' to work out approximately what sort of encounters your looking for.

Sorry, i dont have a monster list for the adventures. You will need to go through the adventure prior to the session and list the monsters (plus of course any extras you add). Its a good idea though, and time well spent in my opinion.

I will go through and do this. It is important when playing with kids there is not much down time setting things up so having these init cards ahead of schedule will make things run much smoother.

As I play the quests I might post up the default encounters and what I have used, others might find this useful.

Hi Skipp4,

Please feel free to do so! Only reason i havent shown this information directly on the quest page is not to ruin the storyline for solo players.

It would be handy to have here though, for people running through the campaign as a dm.
